It seems a reasonable move, she has after all been working alongside Carine for the past 10 years at Vogue!
Emmanuelle Alt will officially become editor in chief of Paris Vogue effective Feb 1.
Who will be the next pregnant vedette… it comes in three’s!
Marion Cotillard is just finishing up her latest project “Second Coming” in time for a romantic and pregant start to 2011. The 35 year-old actress is engaged and expecting with boyfriend/French heartthrob Guillaume Canet (formerly married to actress Diane Kruger). The two have been dating for three years.
The couple walked the red carpet together at the Marrakesh Film Festival earlier this month, immediately setting off pregnancy speculation as Marion appeared much more voluptuous than usual in her Dior Spring 2011 dress (perhaps not the best choice?). A simple diamond engagement ring can be spotted as well.
Is the whole world engaged, pregnant, or both? Petite B wants to know!!
(Secretly thinking the recent rush of engagements/pregnancies is pure economics: the Great Recession is over!)
Eva Green has just dropped another role. After Gemma Arterton said she will replace Green in “Waiting for Robert Capa”, now Diane Kruger steps in to take over her role in “Farewell, My Queen”. The “National Treasure” blonde beauty will be seen playing Marie Antoinette in the upcoming movie, The Playlist says.
She joins Lea Seydoux and Gerard Depardieu whose involvements have been known before.

TARA Reid is back to her partying ways in the French ski resort of Courchevel. The actress, best known for playing Vicky Lathum in 1999 film American Pie and having a botched breast implants, knocked back the French champagne Cristal with a group of friends at restaurant La Mangeoire before treating them to a version of The Eagles’ Hotel California, the New York Post reported.

The 23-year-old starlet is no stranger to Chanel.
In July, Lively was one of the designer Karl Lagerfeld’s famous friends in the front row of the Chanel Hauté Couture show during Paris Hauté Couture Fashion Week. In September, she hit the reopening of the Chanel store in New York’s Soho neighborhood.

Quelle surprise! C’est un bébé pour Natalie Portman et son chéri Benjamin Millepied.
Just when the gossip mill seemed lethargic after a cozy Christmas, news hits the wires this morning of Natalie Portman’s engagement to French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. Oh, and did we mention a bébé on the way?
The Bordeaux born-and-raised Millepied is as accomplished in his art as his new leading lady. Once touted as the “French Baryshnikov”, the sexy frenchman has spent much of his professional career in New York City since leaving France at age 16.
Felicitations to the hot couple!
Bugarach, population 189, is a peaceful farming village in the Aude region, southwestern France and sits at the foot of the Pic de Bugarach, the highest mountain in the Corbières wine-growing area.
But in the past few months, the quiet village has been inundated by groups of esoteric outsiders who believe the peak is an “alien garage”.
According to them, extraterrestrials are quietly waiting in a massive cavity beneath the rock for the world to end, at which point they will leave, taking, it is hoped, a lucky few humans with them.
Most believe Armageddon will take place on December 21, 2012, the end date of the ancient Maya calendar, at which point they predict human civilisation will come to an end. Another favourite date mentioned is 12, December, 2012. They see Bugarach as one of perhaps several “sacred mountains” sheltered from the cataclysm.

Napoleon’s dream of invading England will finally come true in 2011. With a handful of truly French fashion labels like Maje, Sandro, Vanessa Bruno, and the Kooples opening up shop, the frenchie fashion invasion is clearly underway in London. Vive la look française!
If you are an admirer of french women… here are your essential addresses for shopping the look in London. Check out article below:
Nailing that effortless elegance is a big part of the desire to buy into Parisian dressing. ‘The thing about a Frenchwoman is she never looks like she’s tried too hard,’ says Laura Fantacci, Red magazine’s fashion and shopping editor. ‘Chanel did the same thing half a century ago when she teamed a sailor’s stripy tee with men’s palazzo trousers.’
She battled strikes, blockades, and blizzards, and last night rewarded her loyal fans by throwing prized Armani shoes into the audience at Bercy. After a rousing and much anticipated concert, Lady Gaga brought an end to the French leg of her MonsterBall tour.
The extra days spent in Paris awaiting stage time did not go unnoticed. As we reported earlier, Gaga took time out for some traditional French cuisine at Chez André, made a pit-stop at a local Bruce Field’s store to buy some cheap pants to cover her frigid derrière, all the while holed up in a cozy suite at the Hotel Park Hyatt near Place Vendome.
Who knew the classic 8ème brasserie Chez André would arouse the curious interests of Madame Gaga? Perhaps she was in the mood for some famous beef tartare?
Last night, while in town for a concert (subsequently cancelled because of a few snowflakes), Lady Gaga dined in the classic French bistro, famed for its fruits de mer and tartare de boeuf.
You might recall that her Parisian tour dates were rescheduled because of cancellation during the summertime general strikes. Let’s hope she gets a chance to rock Paris bientôt!

Tant pis for those with tickets to the Whitney Houston concert in Paris rescheduled for June 1st, 2010. RTL has just announced that the notorious diva will cancel this leg of her world tour altogether, as ticket sales slumped following the change of date. Blaming a respiratory infection for her disastrous world tour, it seems like something more substantial may be causing her problems…
Between shopping excursions on Ave. Montaigne and business lunches on rue Faubourg St. Honoré, Petite Brigitte is no stranger to the enigmatic neighborhood of the Champs-Elysées. It’s a quartier littered with tourists, banal shopping (except for Montaigne and “le 66“), overpriced restaurants, cheesy clubs, and yes… les marcheuses (prostitutes).
Having tired of the usual places to get some bubbly in this neigborhood– Café Chic, l’Empire du 8ème, Pershing Hall, etc – a recent outing to La Villa came as a welcome suprise. Situated a short walk down from l’Arc de Triomphe, the bar/resto, open since 2009 yet still largely undiscovered by many Parisians, boasts a hip piano bar frequented in equal parts by local residents, international businessmen, and trendsetters.
Cocktails are pricey (13-20 euros), the staff is beautiful (especially the ruggedly handsome ex-model DJ who plays between piano sets), and it is the perfect place for a fancy springtime drink on the ample sidewalk terrasse.
Don’t worry, the only marcheuses on this corner of the Champs are wearing Louboutins.

Never one to get boxed into the quintessential “first lady” image, the bra-less record-releasing libertine that is the First Lady of France will now star in the upcoming Woody Allen film based in Paris.
Filming for this new Woody Allen production, tentatively titled “Midnight in Paris,” begins this July, and other stars taking part included Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Owen Wilson.
The romantic comedy follows a family travelling to the city for business. The party includes a young engaged couple.
Hmmm…. a young engaged couple. Now there’s something Carla could break up faster than a baguette!

Maybe it’s thanks to the success of the BB exposition in Paris this past winter, but Bardot is back as a fashion influence this 2010 season in Paris!
This April, Lancel will produce the BB bag, in honor of the 60′s bombshell, and with her surprise approval and collaboration. Madame Bardot has signed off on this ecologically-sound handbag, which shall be produced using faux leather, organic coton, and natural coloring.
Leonello Borghi, artistic director of Lancel, explained the motivation behind the iconic hangbag’s debut: “Because every woman wants to possess something of Bardot, and because there is an aspect of Bardot in every woman.”
Rumors abound on the details of the bag, which will puportedly incorporate the “Vichy” motif (i.e. gingham) that defined her wardrobe in the 50′s/60′s. Prepare for it’s unveiling this month… Lancel debuts it from St. Tropez, bien sur!
Model Sigrid Agren,
, dispersed with the banal interview questions and got straight to the point in a backstage interview with Karl at the Chanel show in Paris.
Karl, what is your advice on becoming a supermodel? He responds:
It’s not being perfect. What one needs is a face that people can identify in a second. That’s why the girls who were famous in the ‘90s can still work for advertising. People know their faces. The little blonde Russian, Sasha (Pivovarava),
, has a face people can remember instantly, but for other models today, people think, Is she this one or that one? It’s very difficult, but, you see, in fact there is no advice, because all circumstances are very different. It depends on what you are ready to give, the kind of life you bring, what may be exciting or disappointing … You can’t accuse anyone of not doing enough to help you, because, besides yourself, there’s nothing anyone can do. You have to be given what’s needed by nature, and what’s needed is to bring something new. But it’s the most … (hits hand on table) unjust … (hits hand on table) thing in the world.

The legendary Fleche d’Or, known as one of the few outposts for live indie/pop music in Paris, will close its doors this month despite numerous petitions and artistic outcry.
It seems the up-and-coming 20eme arrondissment, with its new Starck hotspot Mama Shelter, has become too branché for the slightly grungy train station-turned concert space. After a series of noise complaints, the rock joint that once served as the backdrop for numerous artist debuts is being forced out of the neighborhood. The building now belongs to the Republique Française and will be used as a reception/conference area.
Concerts are ongoing through the end of April, so get your fill of the indie rock ambiance before the curtain closes forever. http://www.flechedor.fr/index.php/Agenda/

She had a #1 in France with “Are you Ready?” in 2008, so pint-sized powerhouse Kat Deluna stopped in at Barrio Latino last night for some Carnivale action, and to promote her upcoming album.
Unfortunately for her, the reinstatement of the Barrio Latino’s Carnivale party (which used to be the hottest party of the season for models of the Rio denomination) was less than successful after a five year absence. The turn-out was poor, only a few model agencies had tables, and there was obviously a very loose doorman. Blame la Crise?
Making matters worse, no one seemed to understand the rising star’s Bronx-accented English. “Are y’all ready to get dauuuwn tanight?” Her crowd-speak eventually switched over to Spanish, which received more of a reaction. All in all, she gave a hot performance that deserved a better welcome than Barrio Latino.
Update: OK, so one year has passed between this post and the above entry, but at least the Crazy Horse is still the hottest cabaret in town– recently featuring Dita Von Teese under the same performance contract as Pammy for Valentines Day 2009!
Pamela Anderson is showing us some Love on Valentine’s Day in Paris. In what will surely be a sold out show, Pamela is set to perform 4 routines for the Crazy Horse Paris on February 13th and 14th. Tickets will start at 190 euros and climb up to 24o for the ‘diamond’ area seating. The Crazy Horse has hosted the best of burlesque for decades at its legendary venue on Avenue Marceau, and just completed a new renovation this year.
The show is said to involve a Harley Davidson… any clue what Frenchie she is trying imitate?!
In a glamourous end to elegant Haute Couture week, designers and models united for one night of partying and fundraising for the fight against AIDS.
Diner de la Môde is the annual bash that brings out the finest talent in fashion, and this year took place at the Pavilion d’Armenonville at the Bois de Boulogne. In attendance were such fashion doyens as Yohji Yamamoto, Ricardo Tisci (both featured above), Chrisian Lacroix, and Giambattista Valli. Supermodels and stars included Devon Aoki, Natalia Vodianova, Eva Herizigova, Dita von Teese, Diane Kruger, and French actress/Playboy centerfold Vahina Giocante. Oh, and Madame Catherine Deneuve.
The night was magical, and the dresses might have had something to do with it: Dita Von Teese looked ravishing in Lacroix haute, Eva Herizogova looked more like Helen of Troy than Diane Kruger in her Sophia Kokosalaki dress, and the eternal muse of the city, Carine Roitfeld, looked sultry in Christopher Kane.
The charity event raised nearly 1 million euros, and the auction included a black and white photo of Dita von Teese, and personally designed chairs by some of fashion’s biggest designers.
Haute couture fashion week ended on Friday, and dedicated fashionistas flew back to their L.A. mansions and Park Ave penthouses this weekend. The week went smoothly and the parties were elegant affairs, such as the bash at Chaumet’s HQ at Place Vendome– a far cry from the men’s fashion week!
Highlights of the week included Roland Mouret’s continued comeback into the world of fashion, where his show found celebrities like Victoria Beckham lined up to buy his smartly cut and masterfully detailed silhouettes.
The city was full of the nouveau establishment, like Victoria and Dita von Teese, who once again sat together at Chanel and forced comparisons between their albino/orange skin complexion.
We saw a lot of the old establishment in town to bid Arrivederci to Valentino, including former muses Eva Herizgova, Claudia Schiffer, and Nadja Auermann.
Valentino’s show was dramatic and poignant, especially at the final bow. Now Karl Lagerfeld is the only big maestro left in the old designer clan! Val plans to focus his retirement on designing for the ballet and opera.

He’s dressed Liz Taylor, Jackie O, and Maria Callas, and now the legend that is Valentino took his final bow on a runway in Paris last night, at the Rodin Museum. Flanked by dozens of top models dressed in red, the final hoopla was more subdued than his extravagant retirement party in Rome last summer. Nonetheless, stars like Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Tamara Beckwith, David Furnish, Devon Aoki, Eva Herzigova, Miuccia Prada, and Alber Elbaz were there to show support.
Valentino spent the last month preparing for the show from his opulent Louis XIII chateau near Versailles.
A retrospective of his work will hit the Musée des Arts-Decoratifs this June.
Men’s fashion week was the buzz of the town this past weekend, as the industry flocked to Paris to snap up the hot creations from designers like Kris von Assche, Hedi Slimane, and dozens of up-and-coming createurs. Two major men’s expositions– Tranoi and Rendez-vous, took place to showcase new collections from edgy designers like Surface to Air, Gaspard Yurkievich, and Xavier Brisoux.
Parties of mention around the city include last nights wild bash at the opulent Hotel Paiva (above) for Tranoi, where the night started with a presentation by Bernard Wilhelm, and was followed by entertainment by the Broken Hearts Club. What began as classy red carpet event ended like a frat party, and by 3am, the champagne needed restocking and bouncers were busy hauling out roudy partiers. “Literally an hour after the Veuve was brought out, the wheels fell off and everyone went crazy. I saw someone get rugby tackled on the dance floor. At that point the level was set for the night,” said Mic Eaton of up-and-coming label, Material Boy. “I’m rather tired today,” he added.
Other parties were held over the weekend at La Scala and Experimental Cocktail Club (which was THE private venue of the week, hosting everyone from Details magazine to the Rendez-Vous group).
Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman dropped in on Paris this week to promote their new film called “The Bucket List,” in which they play two old geezers who meet in a hospital room and decide to take the road trip of a lifetime on Jack’s private jet.
Jack hung out at Hotel Costes on Thursday evening, where he was surrounded by heavy hitters in the French social scene— like Yves Saint Laurent and Gilles Lellouche, who were both dining with separate parties at the hip venue.
Miss France and pageant organizers have reached a compromise decision following the photo scandal that surfaced last month (see previous article).
Valérie Begue will keep her crown this year, but will not participate in any international contests, such as Miss Universe. Instead, Miss New Caledonia will fill in.
Who is Miss New Caledonia? It’s Vahinerii Requillart (see above). Where is New Caledonia? It’s a French island in the Southwest pacific, where they don’t take scandalous digital photos, and still use the franc as currency!
This seems like a win for Miss France (the public was on her side anyway). Now with no pageants to rehearse for, she have lots of time to….
