Lagerfeld sexes up Dom Perignon

18 Jul

domper.jpg

Feel like you’ve hit a plateau in your love life? Has your husband or lover become predictable and boring?

Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to inspire some old-fashioned role playing… a la francaise.

Shot in his magnificient Parisian mansion using supermodel Claudia Schiffer, Lagerfeld unveiled a series of photos shot for Dom Perignon’s OEnotheque 1993 vintage. The unveiling party this month hosted celebs such as Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes, Pedro Almodovar, and Maria Bello.

The campaign offers a myriad of fantasy women, with Claudia Schiffer in multiple roles including french maid, dominatrix, geisha, and trashy bride. Says Karl: “These portraits show a woman who metamorphoses over time, from the 18th to the 21st centuries, while retaining her own personality.”

Check out the seductive shoot on Dom Perignon’s site.

And who is that sniffing Claudia’s neck? None other than Karls secretary/bodyguard/boytoy Sebastian Jondeau. Oh la.

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are now officially married after completing a civil ceremony in Paris. The Mairie of the 4th arrondissment hosted the small wedding party and the cermony took place at 3pm this afternoon. A brief reception followed.

Eva wore a stunning Chanel couture dress to make her entrance, then changed into a white dress for the ceremony.

This follows a week of hard-partying for the couple and their guests. Last night the group took an evening boat cruise aboard Mirage, one of the swanky boats in the fleet run by Yachts de Paris. Eva and Tony took photos for OK magazine as the Eiffel Tower glittered in the background at 10pm. From there the couple went back to their hotel, while guests boarded buses at the Park Hyatt and headed out to party at VIP.

Unfortunately, nothing noteworthy happened at VIP last night. The guests seemed a little worn out, but party animals like Terrence Howard kept the energy levels high well until 2am. Tony Parker’s father and brother were in attendance, as well as many of Eva’s cousins, who bear a remarkable resemblance to the actress. A few semi-famous actors from American TV shows were there, but none of the Desperate Housewives or any A-List.

Tonight the wedding party has no official plans, though many will be resting in anticipation of tomorrow’s massive party at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte.

Stars arrive in Paris for Parker-Longoria wedding

4 Jul

Turns out the Parker-Longoria wedding festivities are already underway!

The July 7th wedding at Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte will be the hottest wedding of the season, but that’s not to say the days leading up to the big bash will be boring. Au contraire!

Many celebs arrived in Paris today in the prelude to the big day. Terrence Howard and Robert Verdi (featured with moi above), are in town staying at the Hotel Park Hyatt.

After dining tonight at the Market, and then attending the Lacroix bash at the Centre Pompidou, they are headed to EuroDisney tomorrow for another pre-wedding activity. Looks like Eva has it all planned!

I was surprised to learn that Robert Verdi is Eva’s personal stylist (I always think to Fashion Police). He is here to make sure Princess Longoria looks the part for her fairytale week. I didn’t dare to ask who is doing her dress!

Stay tuned for more on the pre-wedding festivities… will PB be at the actual wedding?? On verra…!

Lacroix’s 20th anniversary bash

4 Jul

dsc01654.jpg

Models, stars, and celebs were out in force tonight at the 20th anniversary party for Christian Lacroix Haute Couture.
PetiteBrigitte was in attendance as celebs such as Edouard Baer, Terrance Howard, and Robert Verdi mingled with a flock of beautiful people and fashionistas atop the Centre Pompidou, chez Georges.

Three fully stocked bars kept the champagne flowing, and the dance floor was hot by midnight, with the legendary designer taking time-out to jive with his male entourage. Christian was looking fit and happy in a stunning white dinner jacket as he received congratulatory kisses from the crowd.

As the tour Eiffel glittered in the background, the night was a romantic finish to the second day of Parisian haute couture shows. Lacroix’s own show was a masterpiece unveiled at the Palais Toyko. His lush embroidery and intricate weaves were as complex as any work of art, and perfectly encapsulated the designers trademark provencal image.

Sarko let his affectionate side come out this week when he smacked a kiss on Barbra Streisand.

In Paris to receive the Legion D’Honneur along with Julio Inglesias, Barbra was accompanied by husband James Brolin, and son Jason Gould.

Do they just give the Legion to anyone? I mean, Barbra had never sung a concert in France until last week!!

One Mighty Party with Mariah

28 Jun

mariah.jpg

Oh mi mi …..

Mariah Carey arrived in Paris today in preparation for her concert at EuroDisney on Friday. The comeback diva will perform for One Mighty Party, an event raising money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Spotted exiting the Hotel de Crillon, Mariah waved to paparazzi from atop stripper-esque heels. As usual, she was dressed appropriately and with exceptional class, stuffed into her tight spandex clothing and caked in make-up.

Mariah will perform 6 dancefloor remixes for the event, which will begin at 9pm with two large dance floors in Discoveryland and Frontierland. Attractions will be open throughout the entire Disneyland Resort Paris. The Gay Days Paris event will also feature other special performances and four world-class DJs, along with a special fireworks display over the Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant.

The evening will continue with a second event, Magic Journeys, located at the Disney Pavilion in Discoveryland from 2 AM until 6 AM. Two additional world-class DJs will provide entertainment for Magic Journeys. See www.onemightyweekend.com and www.onemightyweekendparis.com for more details.

Vaux-le-Vicomte prepares for wedding of the year

24 Jun

vaux.jpg

According to People magazine, Tony Parker has confirmed to Canal + that his wedding to actress Eva Longoria will take place at Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte.

This is not the first time the 17th century castle has hosted fairytale events: it was one of the filming locations for Sofia Coppola’s opulent rendition of Marie Antoinette.

The wedding is still on for July 7th, and the couple confirmed they will have a very brief honeymoon in Paris– though denied rumors they will stay at the George V. Eva is set to resume shooting for Desperate Housewives on July 9th.

The church of $6 million weddings

19 Jun

packer.jpg

Eden Roc is one of the most glam hotels on the Cote d’Azur, and this week has been booked in its entirety, along with the Grand Hotel Cap Ferrat, for the wedding guests of James Packer. Who is James Packer? Je ne sais pas. Apparently the wealthiest man in Australia. He is marrying model/singer Erica Baxter. This will be his second marriage, and looks ready to top the first (Elton John performed at his first wedding to a swimsuit model).

Tom & Katie Cruise arrived yesterday, amidst rumors that Tom will actually wed the couple. Rupert Murdoch and family arrived today, and are staying on Murdoch’s yacht, Rose Hearty. Even Prince is there, and will likely perform during the 3 day bash.

It is sure to be a star-studded and uber-scientologist wedding costing an unholy 6 million USD. Stay tuned for a post-nup update later this week.

It is taking a lot of restraint not to write an article on Tom&Katie. I will just say one thing: lets hope his bowl cut is for a movie.

Kate Winslet is a Tresor

17 Jun

kate.jpg

Kate Winslet has landed a lucrative contract with French cosmetics powerhouse, Lancome. She takes the reigns from Isabella Rosellini in promoting the legendary perfume Tresor. Taking a break from her current filming of Revolutionary Road in NYC, she flew to Paris this week for the “unveiling, ” and stayed at the Ritz.

Her inauguration was feted at the Musee Rodin in front of fans, artists, and press. The campaign, which will launch in September, was shot by famed photographer Peter Lindberg on the Pont-des-Arts.

Wearing a tight black Valentino dress from the Fall 2007 collection, she commented on her new role:

“I didn’t feel that I was just being asked to be the face of something,” Kate explains. “It was me as a person. . .and my message to women — about being real in who you are and comfortable in your skin.”

I can have my cake, and pay for it too!

12 Jun

long.jpg

Princess Longoria has been driving her wedding planners up the Tour Eiffel.

The wedding, which is set for July 7, has changed locations numerous times, but we can confirm it will no longer be held at Chateau de Chantilly. In June, Eva visited L’Eglise Saint Germain de L’Auxerrois and spoke with the clerical staff. But then rumors spread to Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte…. so we give up!

What we do know is that she has changed the flower choice three times, ordered a cake from LA costing 50,000 dollars (to be flown to Paris first class), and hit the gym everyday in her build up to the nuptials. As for the performance by Kenny Chesney, Longoria says that he will perform but “he just doesn’t know it yet.” OK…..

Get ready to have your lazy Parisian summer spiced up by some loud and roudy Texans. Yee haw.

Manson marches on Paris June 5

28 May

manson.jpg

The self-proclaimed “Vampire of Love” arrives in Paris this week for a concert on June 5 at Bercy. MM is promoting his new album, Eat Me, Drink Me. Tickets can be purchased at FNAC.

Speaking recently with Le Parisien, he elaborated on this vampire persona:

“A vampire is a character that only comes out at night-time, and ultimately preys on young women. And drinks blood. This idea of consuming someone, whether it’s literal or a metaphor, is quite romantic,” he said.

Literal or metaphor, eh? Seek help.

Regarding his new relationship with a barely legal teenage actress:

“I’ve found my double, my twin, with my new girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood,” says the 38-year-old rocker.

“She’s l9 and certainly that’s very young,” he added, “but that’s not a problem for me. She likes the same things as me. She understands I like to get up when night falls and go to sleep at dawn.” Wow, now thats a keeper.

The couple created a new scandal recently with the music video for “Heart Shaped Glasses,” in which they purportedly had real sex. While the camera doesn’t go below the waist, Evan Rachel Wood’s screams seem to many as, well… genuine. They are also covered in fake blood half of the time (check it out). This girl’s parents must be proud!

Look for Manson to be camping out in a coffin at the Plaza Athenee (during the day of course).

Indian Playboy rocks the Monaco Prix

28 May

mallya2.jpg

(Yacht featured in background of photo, taken from 2007 Kingfisher calendar)

Kingfisher mogul/playboy Vijay Mallya, aka the King of Good Times, threw the biggest bash of the Monaco Grand Prix on board his superyacht Indian Empress. Don’t think his wife was there.

Mallya, who is known for his overly glamorous lifestyle, organized the party on the 95m yacht, currently said to be the 5th largest in the world.

The guest list included Bernie Ecclestone, Tadashi Yamashina, Flavio Briatore, and Jay Z. Early arrivals scarcely had time to catch their breath and grab some champagne before a troop of Indian ballerinas and dancers, Lina Dance, stormed the room to perform a routine worthy of any Bollywood movie. Shortly after, DJ Aqueel and his colleagues began to spin their records as guests hit the dance floor.

Looks like our favorite old dirty playboy, Flavio Briatore, might have danced too hard: he was the one casualty of the evening after stepping on a piece of glass.

The yacht boasted an open air jacuzzi, free-flowing bars, and luxurious loos. Good thing the 16 cabins were locked, or there would have been many stowaways! Then again, with a dude like this at the helm, better think twice:

Fernando Alonso: ay papiiiii

28 May

prix2.jpg

Sexy spaniard, Fernando Alonso, took his second Monaco GP title this weekend, and the 25 year old was basking in McClaren team glory with teammate and #2 Lewis Hamilton.

Not so fast el nano!

World motorsport’s governing body, FIA, said in a statement Monday it was reviewing evidence from Sunday’s race. Alonso finished 4.095 seconds ahead of Hamilton, who was told by McLaren to slow down.

“He was obviously close to me, and I was told to take it easy,” Hamilton said Sunday. “At the end of the day, I am a rookie. I am in my first season in Formula One and I have finished second in only my first Monaco Grand Prix, so I really can’t complain. I’ve got No. 2 on my car. I am the No. 2 driver.”

That’s fascinating and all, but my interest lies in the after-party at Jimmy’z!?!

And the winner is….

28 May

 cannes-win.jpg

Romanian film 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Fest! Made on under 1 million euros, the win is being hailed as a fairy tale ending for director Christian Mungiu’s second feature.

The film, titled after the age of the aborted foetus in the movie, stunned hardened festival veterans and was a favourite for the prize among the 22 films in the competition.

Film industry bible Variety called the film a revelation.

“Pitch perfect and brilliantly acted, ’4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days’ is a stunning achievement, helmed with a purity and honesty that captures not just the illegal abortion story at its core but the constant, unremarked negotiations necessary for survival in the final days of the Soviet bloc,” reviewer Jay Weissberg wrote.

Chris Cornell rocks Showcase

16 May

chris.jpg

With a voice that defies 42 years of hard living, Chris Cornell killed it on Tuesday night at Showcase. It was a solid performance!

Playing to a sold-out crowd, the former lead singer of such bands as Soundgarden and Audioslave entertained the crowd with a culmination of songs spanning his colorful career. Backed up by his new musicians (who look very young and thrilled to be working), Chris even revealed some new songs he’s been working on… one of which was downright mushy. Of course, his wife and two children looked on with adoration from their perch in the VIP.

Unfortunately, the band didn’t stick around for the after-party at Chris’ club, Black Calvados. They ate dinner in the upstairs restaurant, and then hit the bus for an overnight haul to London. Chris says he will return to Paris to close out the tour.

For those of you not familiar with Chris, get with it. He did the theme song to James Bond: Casino Royale. Plus, the guy is downright hot. With looks that could make him Brad Pitt’s brother, and one of the sexiest voices in the industry, it was all I could do not to toss my brassiere on stage. Take me! Take me now!

Yours truly,

the homewrecker.

Costume Institute Party of the Year: French en Forme

8 May

charlotte.jpgtom.jpg

The French were out in force in NYC this week for the annual Costume Institute Gala. This year’s honoree was Paul Poiret (60 years after his death). He is credited as a revolutionary designer in women’s fashion– releasing women from the confines of a corset.

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg & Yvan Attal were not the most glam couple of the night, but they pulled it off nicely in Balenciaga. Cute Enough.
  • Marc Jacobs doesn’t seem to have returned to Paris following his release from rehab, but was looking sober (and ultra-tan) with Winona Ryder on his arm.
  • Carine was looking very femme fatale, trademark messy hair in tact, and had the arm of my personal gay crush, Tommy Ford.
  • Salma & the Frenchman made a rare public appearence, and her black velvet dress had a slimming effect on the majorly pregnant starlette.
  • Best Dressed of the Night: Eva Mendes, Queen Rania of Jordan (as always), Cat Deeley
  • Worst Disasters beyond belief: Margherita Missoni, Kristen Dunst, Parker Posey, Juliette Lewis (surprise?), DVF
  • Breath of Fresh Air: Camilla Belle
  • Would have looked better naked: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld
  • Stars we wish hadn’t been invited: Jamie Burke (the hair!), Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, K. Dunst
  • Worst Dressed Men: Alber Elbaz (Lanvin), Lapo Elkann (Agnelli), Hamish Bowles
  • Hottest Men: TF, Zac Posen, Liev Schreiber, Roland Mouret

Let Proust change your life, this March in Paris!

A lot of us have always meant to read Proust, yet when forced to choose between him and a Candace Bushnell novel, you know what happens. Now is your chance to get motivated! In a series of three lectures, Gretel Furner (grad of Oxford, prof at GW) will present the first book of Proust’s masterpiece In Search of Lost Time in a new translation by Lydia Davis. Find out why no writer has ever captured as well the richness of childhood experience nor the delicate pleasures of fin de siècle France. Participants should bring along a paperback edition of Marcel Proust’s The Way by Swann’s, published by Penguin Books (2002) and available at most English language bookshops in Paris.
