You may have noticed that PetiteBrigitte has been delinquint in her normally steady line of postings. For those readers in France, you will understand why: It’s AUGUST!

The Parisian party scene is dying down, tourists have overun the city, and anyone leading a life of leisure has escaped to more chic climes such as St. Trop or Porto Cervo.

PB was going to try to keep up with postings, but lost all motivation upon realizing that even Cafe Flore has shut its doors for two weeks! That’s it: time for vacation!

Be back in 2 or 3 weeks with a good tan. Check back for intermittant postings!

Cheap & Chic Vintage

I’m sure you are familiar with Free P Star… the little vintage shop on Rue Saint Croix de la Bretonnerie in the Marais (across from Amorino). But have you noticed the sister store on the other side of BHV on Rue de la Verrerie– Fripes Star?!It’s huge, cheap, and you can actually move around!

You’ll find a vast selection of vintage dresses for 10-20 euros, handbags, shoes, and leather jackets. Old army jackets and uniforms. Some of the best buys are 80′s style dresses and fabulous vintage belts! While the big designer labels are scarce, the clothes are too vintageworthy to pass up. You’ll think twice before going back to Come on Eileen!

Lagerfeld sexes up Dom Perignon

Feel like you’ve hit a plateau in your love life? Has your husband or lover become predictable and boring?

Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to inspire some old-fashioned role playing… a la francaise.

Shot in his magnificient Parisian mansion using supermodel Claudia Schiffer, Lagerfeld unveiled a series of photos shot for Dom Perignon’s OEnotheque 1993 vintage. The unveiling party this month hosted celebs such as Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes, Pedro Almodovar, and Maria Bello.

The campaign offers a myriad of fantasy women, with Claudia Schiffer in multiple roles including french maid, dominatrix, geisha, and trashy bride. Says Karl: “These portraits show a woman who metamorphoses over time, from the 18th to the 21st centuries, while retaining her own personality.”

And who is that sniffing Claudia’s neck? None other than Karls secretary/bodyguard/boytoy Sebastian Jondeau. Oh la.

The Sisters Cruz take a bite out of Mango

Milla Jonovich’s collection for MNG by Mango may have bombed, but that doesn’t mean the company has given up on guest designers!

Now the sisters Cruz, Monica and Penelope, are in the process of designing a collection for the store which will debut Sept 16. Based on their own wardrobe of vintage pieces, the 30 piece collection will span everything from casual wear to evening.

Penelope has said, “This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We just had to find the right people to do it with. We’ve always loved clothes – we used to hide in the bathroom with fashion magazines and say, ‘I want that one”.

The genetically blessed pair celebrated the collection this week with a party at the Atzaro Hotel in Ibiza.

YSL hospitalized as Berge holds vigil

Longtime friend and partner Pierre Berge has released a statement to the media regarding the health of Yves Saint Laurent, commenting that the legendary designer is “not well” and suffering from severe respiratory problems.

YSL entered the American Hospital of Paris this morning, and although initial reports were optimistic, Berge’s new statements hint at the gravity of his condition. While the designer’s list of ailments, both mental and physical, have been well documented over the past decades, his health over the past year has noticably deteriorated.

Louis Vuitton does the iPhone

We all knew Louis Vuitton lost its French identity long ago. First the pimped out logos and shiny metallic hardware, then the special editions, and of course the over-the-top consumerholic ad campaigns. In fact, PetiteBrigitte wouldn’t be caught dead sporting LV these days. The only exception would be for smaller accessories, such as the agendas and wallets, which still retain a faint whiff of class.

Now the group is taking its trendy branding to the ultimate trendy accessory du jour: the iPhone.

LV will introduce the first luxe carrying case for the new iPhone. Prices range from $225 for the logo to $1,125 for the alligator, and are set to hit stores this month.

But guess what? This doesn’t really make sense for us Parisians— we can’t even get the iPhone yet!

The release date for the phone is still up in the air, as is the crucial question of who wins the bid for operating rights! Allez Orange!

 Update: Orange will begin selling the iPhone this fall, though the specific release date has not been announced. Will the French line up for it like the Americans? On verra…..!

Old man and the sea

For those of you heading South to enjoy the waters of the Cote d’Azur, BEWARE. The riviera isn’t always full of rock hard bodies like Eva Longoria.

No, that is not a whale.
It’s Jack Nicholson– paunch, manboobs, shaved armpits and all. The 70 year old actor is morphing into the late Marlon Brando before our eyes. (The two actors were close friends)

Vacationning around St. Jean Cap-Ferrat this week, the three time Oscar winner spent a leisurely afternoon on a small speedboat this week. Armed with a baguette and bevy of bikini-clad ladies, Jack even attempted some exercise by performing some arm lifts.

It’s just not right the girls have tops on and he doesn’t. Coverage please!!

Hitched

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are now officially married after completing a civil ceremony in Paris. The Mairie of the 4th arrondissment hosted the small wedding party and the cermony took place at 3pm this afternoon. A brief reception followed.

Eva wore a stunning Chanel couture dress to make her entrance, then changed into a white dress for the ceremony.

This follows a week of hard-partying for the couple and their guests. Last night the group took an evening boat cruise aboard Mirage, one of the swanky boats in the fleet run by Yachts de Paris. Eva and Tony took photos for OK magazine as the Eiffel Tower glittered in the background at 10pm. From there the couple went back to their hotel, while guests boarded buses at the Park Hyatt and headed out to party at VIP.

Unfortunately, nothing noteworthy happened at VIP last night. The guests seemed a little worn out, but party animals like Terrence Howard kept the energy levels high well until 2am. Tony Parker’s father and brother were in attendance, as well as many of Eva’s cousins, who bear a remarkable resemblance to the actress. A few semi-famous actors from American TV shows were there, but none of the Desperate Housewives or any A-List.

Tonight the wedding party has no official plans, though many will be resting in anticipation of tomorrow’s massive party at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte.

Stars arrive in Paris for Parker-Longoria wedding

Turns out the Parker-Longoria wedding festivities are already underway!

The July 7th wedding at Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte will be the hottest wedding of the season, but that’s not to say the days leading up to the big bash will be boring. Au contraire!

Many celebs arrived in Paris today in the prelude to the big day. Terrence Howard and Robert Verdi (featured with moi above), are in town staying at the Hotel Park Hyatt.

After dining tonight at the Market, and then attending the Lacroix bash at the Centre Pompidou, they are headed to EuroDisney tomorrow for another pre-wedding activity. Looks like Eva has it all planned!

I was surprised to learn that Robert Verdi is Eva’s personal stylist (I always think to Fashion Police). He is here to make sure Princess Longoria looks the part for her fairytale week. I didn’t dare to ask who is doing her dress!

Lacroix’s 20th anniversary bash

Models, stars, and celebs were out in force tonight at the 20th anniversary party for Christian Lacroix Haute Couture.
PetiteBrigitte was in attendance as celebs such as Edouard Baer, Terrance Howard, and Robert Verdi mingled with a flock of beautiful people and fashionistas atop the Centre Pompidou, chez Georges.

Three fully stocked bars kept the champagne flowing, and the dance floor was hot by midnight, with the legendary designer taking time-out to jive with his male entourage. Christian was looking fit and happy in a stunning white dinner jacket as he received congratulatory kisses from the crowd.

As the tour Eiffel glittered in the background, the night was a romantic finish to the second day of Parisian haute couture shows. Lacroix’s own show was a masterpiece unveiled at the Palais Toyko. His lush embroidery and intricate weaves were as complex as any work of art, and perfectly encapsulated the designers trademark provencal image.

Kate Moss flees to Paris

Kate Moss just arrived in Paris with daughter Lila Rose in tow, and a nanny following in haste.

Fleeing London after a hellish few days, Kate hopes to find solace in Paris and will attend a number of fashion parties this week. All this in hopes of sending a message to dirty rocker Pete Doherty, who cheated on her with a South African model named Lindy.

Kate is reportedly devastated and was sobbing all weekend as the news emerged within her close circle on Primrose Hill in London. She now plans to put on a happy face during her stay in Paris. But is this really the end of the on-off couple?!

On the professional front, Kate was dealt another blow this week when Agent Provocateur made the decision to drop her from their label in favor of 18 year old Daisy Lowe (above right). Kate is said to have fallen out with co-owner of the lingerie brand Serena Rees after Rees embarked on an affair with the husband of one of her close friends.

Where? Chateau de Versailles (the orangerie)

Why? Because its couture week! And this is the 60th anniversary of the Dior house. Galliano also celebrates his 10th year at the house.

Sarko let his affectionate side come out this week when he smacked a kiss on Barbra Streisand.

In Paris to receive the Legion D’Honneur along with Julio Inglesias, Barbra was accompanied by husband James Brolin, and son Jason Gould.

Do they just give the Legion to anyone? I mean, Barbra had never sung a concert in France until last week!!
